Understanding the High Cost of Organic Clothing

Must Watch !! Making Big Money in 2014 With Google Sniper  (Bigger. More Powerful. Real Results.)

Many people interested in “going organic” and purchasing only organic clothing become dismayed when they see that the price is generally somewhat higher than other types of clothing.  Some even wonder if it’s some sort of conspiracy and believe that those who produce this type of clothing must be raking in the money.
The truth is that there are many factors that go into the making of organic clothing that automatically runs up the price.
The first of these is that many makers of organic clothing don’t make the millions of copies of an outfit that manufacturers of conventional clothing often do.  Many organic companies are small family-run stores that struggle to have enough inventory for customers.
Another factor involves organic cotton.  This type of cotton is more expensive to grow and yields less cotton per hectare than conventional cotton.  Organic crops must still deal with weeds and pests, often using more expensive natural herbicides and pesticides.  This makes fabrics made from organic cotton overall more expensive.
Organic cotton is more expensive to harvest than regular cotton.  The conventional cotton companies use chemical additives in order to facilitate harvesting by the harvester machines.  While chemical defoliation improves harvesting, it adds to the chemicals left in the cotton garments people wear.  Organic cotton harvesting relies on no chemicals resulting in a
somewhat lower yield.
Finally, many organic fabrics are more expensive to manufacture.  The lower harvest yields increases the costs of cleaning and preparing the raw cotton.  In addition, because organic cotton processing is done in factories that produce regular cotton, all of the machines, cotton gins, weaving and knitting machines must be thoroughly cleaned before the organic cotton can be processed.  This adds to the cost.
Sadly, labor costs are less in conventional clothing manufacturing, which often relies on cheap labor or, in some instances, child labor, to manufacture.  This type of practice would generally be considered unacceptable for manufacturers of organic clothing.  One exception is the silk industry, which relies on millions of hand loom operators in India to make the organic silk products.
An example of how conventional fabric manufacturers have a leg up on organic clothing manufacturers is a company, which makes cotton tank tops for Wal-Mart that pays a total of thirteen cents per hour in sweatshops in Nicaragua and other developing companies.  Organic clothing manufacturers would consider this unethical and can’t keep up with those kinds of
labor costs.
Organic clothing is more expensive to ship, distribute and provide to retailers and customers.  This is because the market size is so much smaller than the big retail stores and the per garment cost to ship is greater.  In addition, organic clothing stores must pay more for advertising and marketing of their products.  The customer base is less dense and more
advertising must be done to reach an appropriate audience.
The economics of organic clothing sales are such that growers, manufacturers and retailers lack the buying power of the bigger superstores and retailers.  The production of organic clothing is still a very small part of clothing manufacturing so that everything from harvesting to packaging becomes a bigger process.
For those who love organic clothing, however, the cost may be worth it. The environment is helped by the purchase of organic clothing and the clothing itself carries less of a health risk than conventional garments.

Make Your Own Family Artifacts for Future Generations

Do you remember when you were a child and you found time capsules to be so interesting? I know I did. I can remember looking at a time capsule filled with artifacts from several decades prior to that time and I just sat and stared in awe of what was inside.

The artifacts in the time capsule were things like magazines, newspapers, photographs and records dating back to the time when the time capsule was buried underground for unearthing years later.

Now, if you have kids, think about how much fun it would be for them if you created a time capsule with things that will be considered artifacts when the capsule is opened in fifty years. You can make it into a fun game where your kids can brainstorm ideas of what they would want to include in the time capsule that would be good artifacts and examples of this day in age and a representation of your family.

They will probably come up with a ton of crazy ideas. However, let them figure out what they would like to include and then whittle the list down from there. Some ideas for artifacts include a current model cell phone, an mp3 player, some photographs, newspapers and magazines from the current month and possibly some candy that people can look at and compare to the candy in
the future.

The fun will come when your kids will help formulate what you will put in the time capsule and then you can watch the excitement in their faces when you prepare to bury the time capsule and then cover it for release in 50 years. Be sure to record it somewhere so your children or their children will be able to open it at that time to take a look and compare what has evolved between now and  then.

This can turn in to a fun and educational game for your children that they will no doubt remember for the rest of their lives. They could even do a demonstration of it in their classrooms and maybe inspire other children to pursue time capsules full of family artifacts of their very own.

It will also be fun doing it together. There are so few activities anymore where kids and their parents can really get into it and do it together all while having fun at the same time. Your kids grow up so fast that it is important to take the time to help them grow and learn while spending as much quality time with them as you can.

Before you and your children know it, they will be grown up and have children of their own. Seize opportunities to create lasting bonds that will last more than a lifetime. When they open the time capsules, they will no doubt remember the good times you had together and your work as a parent will be done. Then hopefully they will carry on the tradition with their own kids and grandkids.

A Timeless Secret

It is said that the art of distilling was discovered somewhere in Asia in approximately 800 B.C. The assumption was that this technique was merely used to make perfumes, however this has been refuted.

The method by which the processes found its way to the British Isles is uncertain; however we do know that the Moors brought the art of distilling to Europe. It is believed that the art was then refined in monasteries throughout central Europe. Apparently the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, carried this trade into the monasteries in 432 AD on a Christian mission. Regardless, the Celts did attain the secret eventually and made their water of life that in Gaelic is pronounced “Uisge Beatha”.

This simple yet not well-known name is how the scotch whiskey came to be, as Uisge means whiskey. The millstone year for whiskey in history would have to be 1494 as a Sir Friar John Cor of Scotland ordered eight bolls of malt. It was reportedly to be used for aqua vitae which is the first accountable proof of production of whiskey in Scotland.

The skill of distilling soon left the monasteries for the farms where just about everyone was making whiskey up until about 1820 this is when the government decided they were going to shut down personal and private distilleries making them illegal. The rough and sometimes brutal taste differs greatly from today. It was not until the eighteenth century that it was discovered that with aging came a mellower brew. The findings of the aging process was practically tripped upon when an old cask long forgotten was found full of the good stuff.

The uniting of the two parliaments one from England and one from Scotland in the year 1707 is what drew into effect the Union Act. Realizing that it would pay off for both sides, they came up with an unheard of plan for making the malt.

By the year 1725 the English malt tax was forged however not without bloodshed. At this time every second bottle of malt distilled in Scotland was of the illegal kind due to roving excise men, illicit distilleries, and the fashion of smuggling.

In 1820’s much trouble arose in the form of crime and tough taxing policies which eventually became completely unmanageable. To solve the problem, the government ordered the Excise Act which allowed the government to track which distilleries were legal and those which were not by using labels.

Whisky started out as a product for the British market in the 1820s, but today it has become a drink that is appreciated and loved around the world. Much of this incredible development is the result of the introduction of blended whisky. Even today approximately 90 percent of all whisky that is produced in Scotland is used in blended whisky. However the interest of single malt whisky has increased in recent years and this development is likely to continue.

Stop Smoking Through Meditation

Both self-help groups and clinics offer the quit smoking support programs. Most of these programs are run by professionals and can be customized to meet your needs. You can either attend an intensive quit smoking support program that runs for a week to fifteen days or enroll yourself for weekly sessions. The popularity of the quit smoking support programs is mainly due to the extensive counseling that they provide to smokers. They teach you to deal with withdrawal symptoms. Meditation can help.

They also provide you support and guidance at every step by understanding your problems. You can talk with the counselors even after you have finished the program. This can help prevent a relapse.Besides counseling, most quit smoking support programs also prescribe nicotine replacement therapy or NRT. Some also suggest medication like Zyban. Meditation is that experience where one’s consciousness becomes engrossed and merged with the object of meditation. You can also choose from alternative treatments like hypnosis procedures, acupressure and meditation though these are often not very successful. Do what works best to help you to stop smoking, that is what is so very important.

Zyban creates a false feeling of pleasure in the person, a feeling that is similar to the one experienced while smoking. This drug should be taken strictly under medical supervision. It has a few side effects associated with it, and should be avoided by people suffering from heart disease, epilepsy and pregnant women.Beginning with the toes on your left foot, tense the muscles in those toes for a count of three, then slowly release the tension in the toes, and feel a calm return to the toe area. You need support during this difficult time so please talk with someone about it who can provide you with that help.

Do the same with the toes on the right foot.Since the chances of a relapse are very high, most quit smoking support programs have a 24-hour help line service where counselors listen to queries and provide solutions. At the end of a program the smokers are given listening and reading material to reinforce their resolve to quit smoking.Quit smoking support can also be extended by friends and family members. They can play a big role in keeping their friend or relative occupied. They can also help in preventing relapse by urging the smokers to return to the quit smoking support program if the need arises.

The advantage with NRT is that it reduces your craving for nicotine. You can use NRT in the form of gums, patches, sprays and inhalers. Though gums and patches are available over the counter other forms of NRT can be taken only under medical supervision. They reduce your nicotine dependency by releasing a small quantity of nicotine into the body. The dosage can be regulated to control the withdrawal symptoms, and stopped completely once your urge to smoke disappears.Meditation can help.Good luck on your way to a new fresh non smoking world, you are really going to love it.

Continuing Education and Languages, Learn in your Spare Time!

520

You are taking the plunge and are planning the trip of a lifetime across South America. You plan to visit each country for
an extended period of time and see the sights and sounds like that of a local. One problem. And it is a big one: you cannot
speak Spanish and know you will need to know at least a little bit before you
go.

Thankfully, you still have several months before your trip starts, so you can try to learn some Spanish before heading on
your trip. However, you are not sure how to go about learning the language. You see the advertisements on televisions for
the books and CD-ROM sets that claim to teach you the language in just a few days. You are more than skeptical.

Instead, you decide that taking a course with a native speaker would probably be the best bet. But where can you find these
types of courses without enrolling in an actual Spanish language degree program? You are most likely to find programs like
this for people just like you in continuing education programs.

Continuing education programs that have language courses are more tailored to the adult learner who wants to learn the
practical part of the language. The people who take these classes are more than likely using it for business purposes or
for recreational purposes. They need to know the phrases and need to practice conversation. Continuing education classes
like this are great for that.

How can you find continuing education courses where you can learn all the important parts of the language in the shortest
amount of time? Well, most colleges and universities offer language courses for adult learners that do not involve enrolling
in a degree program. To find out more about these types of courses, call your local college and university and speak to an enrollment specialist
about the registration process, the class times and what you can expect to learn in the class.

Most times, these classes are led by native speakers who can provide the much needed practice to perfect your accent and
comprehension of the language. These courses are usually offered in a beginner, intermediate and advanced level that allows
people to learn at their own pace. Students can also retake courses if they choose to perfect something they did not feel
like they mastered previously.

Some colleges and universities also offer courses in other languages like Arabic, French, Italian and German, mostly
depending on what part of the country you live in and your interests. Arabic language courses have increased in popularity
in the years since 9/11 and will most likely continue to rise in popularity as refugees continue to come to this country.

On the flip side, continuing education courses are also offered to non-English speakers who have recently come to this
country. These immigrants want to learn the language and continuing education courses like this provide the best format
for them to do so.

So say “hola” to continuing education and learn enough Spanish to spend your vacation like a local.

How Diamonds Are Mined?

How Diamonds Are Mined

We seldom think about how the diamonds we wear came to us. Natural diamonds, as opposed to synthetic diamonds or fake
diamonds, are mined from the earth. There are currently two methods of mining
diamonds: Pipe Mining and Alluvial Mining.
When pipe mining is used, the diamonds are extracted from the earth through volcanic
pipes. These are not man-made pipes. These are natural pipes in the ground. Shanks are
put into the ground next to the pipes, and tunnels are driven into the deepest parts of
the pipe. The diamonds are not sorted out at the mine. Instead, huge rocks that are full of
diamonds are brought out of the mine and moved to a screening plant for separation.
The Alluvial mining method is done in riverbeds and on beaches. Walls are built to
hold back the water and the sand on the bank or beach is moved with a bulldozer until the
level of earth that diamonds can be found in is reached. Again, the diamonds are not
sorted here. Instead, the sand that contains the diamonds is bulldozed into trucks, and
taken to screening plants.
